| "Too many people look at buying a stolen firearm as their good fortune!" anonymous Deputy Sheriff |
Report Form / Current Reports: RIFLE, HANDGUN, SHOTGUN
If you were to take a poll you would find that most gun owners know someone who has lost a firearm to theft. It is hard to think about, your favorite firearm gone. They steal more than a piece of wood and steel, they steal the memories that go along with it. Perhaps it was a rifle passed down through three generations and your son would have been the fourth. It doesn't matter what the memories were it only matters that they are gone.We hope that this site might bring the firearm and the memories back. Just fill out the report form, with as much information as you choose to give. If any area bothers you, don't fill it out. Do you want to offer a reward? You really do not need to. We hope that anyone finding one of the firearms on our list would turn it in for nothing more than a thank you. If you do not want to be contacted directly we can set it up to go through us. The finder would contact us and we would contact you. Just follow the instructions.
The facts are thus, the police are undermanned and cannot hope to find every stolen firearm. We all can help though. If you are offered a firearm with a deal that is too good to be true check it out. Ask the seller if you can take it to your favorite gunsmith under the guise of having it checked for problems, not a bad idea anyway. Then have the local police run a check on it. If nothing else see if you can get the serial number and give it to the police, along with a way to contact the seller of course. There is also no need to take any risks, there is not a firearm out there worth a human life.
Remember, you should always report any theft to your local police. Also, if you are not willing to do anything about crime why should anyone else. And finally, in most states it is against the law to buy, sell or trade stolen goods.
We will not post any stolen firearm report without a Police Report Number. There are a whole bunch of great reasons for this, not the least of which is insurance!
Please fill the form out as completely as you are comfortable with. There are a few areas that are required but you will be given an option as to whether we post it with your report. If you would rather Email the information to us directly please do.The subject line should read: Lost Firearms. The remainder of the information should be provided in the same format as the following form.
Note: We recommend that you only post your local Police Department phone number, the Report number they gave you and the physical description of the firearm.
