The Arizona Shooting Sports Association was developed to manage the shooting sports in the Grand Canyon State Games (GCSG) and to help bring an Olympic Village to Arizona . But, as some of you may know, an Olympic Village here is a dead issue - for now . So that leaves us the GCSG.
This year, 2001, marks our ninth year of participation in the GCSG Summer Games and our third year in the GCSG Winter Games. We have learned much through the years and some of that you are seeing here. One of our biggest complaints has been that the Shooters had no idea of what was going on with the GCSG. With the advent of this web site that complaint can stop.
This site will be up year round and will be updated as soon as possible for each event. We also hope that this Web site can be used by the different Shooting disciplines to bring new shooters to the games and to their sports. If we don't keep the shooting sports growing we will loose them through attrition and perhaps through legislation. Think about and go get some more shooters.
As with all shooting sports we all have to be careful that our actions don't give the anti-gunners any ammo. In fact with these State Olympic Games we have one of the best platforms to show the general public that we aren't all a bunch on the fringe.
So, here is the site. We call it ours but in truth it is your's, the shooters of Arizona who come forth and participate in the Grand Canyon State Games.
